India vs West Indies: Rishabh Pant to make ODI debut in 1st match at Guwahati

first_imgWicketkeeper Rishabh Pant will make his one-day international debut in the first match between India and West Indies on October 21 in Guwahati on Sunday.Pant has been named in the playing XI for the first ODI of the five-match series but won’t be keeping wickets as MS Dhoni will continue to don the gloves for the team.Pant has replaced Dinesh Karthik in the middle-order from the team which played in the Asia Cup in UAE. Karthik was axed from the team after a string of low scores in the tournament which India won for a record seventh time last month.The swashbuckling left-handed batsman Pant has been in terrific form this year in Test cricket which is why he has been rewarded with a place in the one-day side now.Pant has scored 346 runs in 5 Tests since making his debut this year with a hundred against England at The Oval and two scores of 92 against the Windies earlier this month.
