Nokia 2.1, Nokia 5.1 and 3GB Nokia 3.1 launched in India starting at Rs 6,999

first_imgHMD Global has quietly announced the Nokia 2.1, a new variant of the Nokia 3.1 and Nokia 5.1 in India. These affordable new Nokia phones come ahead of HMD’s next major event on August 21 where we expect to see the launch of the Nokia X6 aka Nokia 6.1 Plus or the Nokia X5 aka Nokia 5.1 Plus. Notably, the Nokia 3.1 gets a new 3GB variant in addition the the 2GB/16GB model that was launched a few weeks ago.HMD has priced the Nokia 2.1, 3GB Nokia 3.1 and Nokia 5.1 at Rs 6,999, Rs 11,999 and Rs 14,999, respectively. All three devices will go on sale starting August 12 and will be available across leading offline retailers. They will also be available on Nokia’s online website, Nokia.com/phones and via Paytm Mall. Additionally, consumers buying any one of these devices from a retail outlet by scanning a Paytm Mall QR code can avail a 10 per cent cashback on recharges and bill payments on Paytm. ICICI Bank credit or debit card users can avail a 5 per cent cashback on purchase of a Nokia 3.1 or Nokia 5.1. Lastly, Idea and Vodafone customers will get some data benefits as well.Nokia 2.1Starting from the bottom, the Nokia 2.1 is the cheapest offering among the three phones and slots just above the Nokia 1 Android Go phone. Priced at Rs 6,999, the new Nokia 2.1 also runs Android Oreo (Go Edition), which is a version of Android Oreo that is designed and optimised for entry-level handsets that run 1GB of RAM or lower. Much like the Nokia 1, the Nokia 2.1 also comes with 1GB of RAM. The budget Nokia device is offered with 16GB of internal storage, which is expandable up 128GB via microSD card.advertisementThe Nokia 2.1 is powered by a Snapdragon 425 chipset and is optimised to consume 10 per cent less power than its predecessor. The budget device houses a 4,000mAh battery that promises 2 days of battery life on a single charge. It also comes with an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing sensor with autofocus. The Nokia 2.1 will be offered in three colours combinations – Blue/Copper, Blue/Silver and Grey/Silver.3GB Nokia 3.1HMD announced the new Nokia 3.1 in India last month at Rs 10,499, but the variant only offered 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. The company has now announced a new 3GB RAM variant along with 32GB of internal storage at Rs 11,999. The rest of the device remains unchanged. The Nokia 3.1 brings the dual anodized diamond cut design that has been seen on high-end Nokia phones. There’s a 2.5D curved Gorilla Glass display that sits on top of the device.The Nokia 3.1 bears a 5.2-inch HD+ display with an 18:9 aspect ratio, and is powered by an octa-core MediaTek 6750 chipset, delivering 50 per cent more power than before. As for the cameras, the Nokia 3.1 sports a 13MP rear sensor with autofocus, LED flash and a feature called automatic scene detection. Up front, you get an 8MP selfie shooter with a wide-angle lens. The phone houses a 2,990mAh battery and supports a microUSB port.Notably, the Nokia 3.1 is among the cheapest Android One phones in the Indian market right now. As an Android One device, the Nokia 3.1 will offer a pure, stock Android Oreo experience and the company promises three years of monthly security patches and two years of OS updates. The device will also be among the first to get Android 9 Pie and Android Q in the future.Nokia 5.1The Nokia 5.1 falls in the affordable mid-range segment and is priced just below the Nokia 6.1. The phone is crafted out a single block of Series 6000 aluminium with a satin finish on top. It sports a 5.5-inch FHD+ display with an 18:9 display with 443 ppi pixel density. HMD says the new Nokia 5 offers 40 per cent smoother performance with a 2.0GHz octa-core Helio P18 chipset. The phone sports a 16MP PDAF camera and will be offered in three colours – Copper, Blue and Black that will be available a few weeks later.The Nokia 5.1 will be offered in a single configuration of 3GB + 32GB.
