‘I’d like to wish John Terry well, but it’s difficult for me to do that!’

first_imgKevin Bond has brushed off Birmingham’s failure to land John Terry and expects the club to make other big moves in the transfer market this summer.Blues boss Harry Redknapp was eager to sign the ex-Chelsea and England captain but the 36-year-old has instead opted to join their bitter rivals Aston Villa.Speaking exclusively to Jim White on talkSPORT, Redknapp’s No.2 Bond said: “Harry did speak to John and I believe the club made him a very good offer, but he has made his decision to go to Aston Villa.“I’d like to wish him well, but its going to be difficult for me to do that!”While Terry won’t be moving to St Andrews, Bond has suggested it could still be an exciting summer for Birmingham fans.“I don’t know exactly what the resources are available to the manager but they [the Birmingham owners] will spend good money for the right player,” he said.“Obviously John Terry is a highly-regarded player so they recognised his worth. I think, for players like that, they will do the best they can in order to try and persuade them to come to Birmingham.“Funds are going to be made available for the right players so Harry is hopefully going to be able to do what he needs to strengthen the squad.”Bond also insisted there is plenty of life left in Redknapp’s managerial career.
