first_imgMinister of Natural Gas Development Rich Coleman said the event brought everyone involved in the global energy market under one roof. “Industry, First Nations, government – we are all working together to reach our province’s potential in natural gas supply and export.”One aspect of focus of this year’s conference was a new program called GameChanger, which challenged students by getting them to exercise the same creative-thinking skills professionals in the industry utilize.Youth taking part in 12 challenges at the GameChallenger youth expo came from more than 25 communities, including Vancouver, Fort Nelson, Abbotsford, Fort St. James, Burns Lake, and more. The BC Government says over 3,000 participants took part in the international LNG conference this week at the Vancouver Convention Centre.The conference heard from 91 speakers in total, including Mayor of Fort St. John Lori Ackerman, Minister of Education and Peace River South MLA Mike Bernier, President of Northern Lights College Dr. Bryn Kulmatycki, and Mayor of the Northern Rockies Regional Municipality Bill Streeper.“British Columbia is on the verge of creating a clean, innovative new industry, expanding our capacity to provide clean energy to Asia, and attracting new investments to secure jobs throughout the province,” said Premier Christy Clark.- Advertisement -Clark said this year’s conference provided a rich experience for everyone, including thousands of students who havevarious new career options to look forward to.12 panels during the length of the conference centered around the three main themes: investment, technology & Innovation, and partnerships.The conference also appeared to gather attention on social media with the conference’s official hashtag #LNGinBC2015 – reaching 778,376 people from the 7th until the 16th.Advertisementlast_img
