Tech Time: An encryption primer

first_imgby: Jim Benlein, CISA, CISM, CRISCOver the past few years, as new products or services have been examined at your credit union, the question of how passwords are secured has probably come up. In most cases, vendors you were considering probably responded: “Oh. We encrypt passwords.” That’s certainly nice to hear, but not quite what is needed in today’s turbulent security environment. This article will briefly discuss encryption terms and concepts and wrap up with a list of questions you can ask your vendors to make sure they’re going a good job protecting your data.Encryption PrimerFirst, what exactly is “encryption”? According to the National Institute of Standards & Technology, encryption is “…The process of transforming plaintext into cyphertext using a cryptographic algorithm and key…” The table below offers some insight into the various parts of this definition. continue reading » ShareShareSharePrintMailGooglePinterestDiggRedditStumbleuponDeliciousBufferTumblrcenter_img PlaintextText easily readable and understood by humans• This article is in plaintextlast_img read more

Fury vs Wilder 2: Deontay Wilder blames walkout suit for defeat, will demand rematch

first_imgThe fight was stopped after Wilder’s cornerman, Mark Breland, threw in the towel. A huge right hand from Fury sent Wilder to the canvas in the third round and left the Bronze Bomber bleeding from the ear. MORE: “I’d rather die in the ring” – Wilder hits out at trainer who threw in the towel His footwork was non-existent and he struggled to move around the ring before a body shot in the fifth floored him again. He also hit the deck twice more, but both were ruled slips. Speaking to veteran reporter Kevin Iole of Yahoo Sports, Wilder claimed the suit he wore for his walkout — which was in honour of Black History Month — was too heavy and left his legs fatigued. “He didn’t hurt me at all, but the simple fact is … that my uniform was way too heavy for me,” Wilder said.“I didn’t have no legs from the beginning of the fight. In the third round, my legs were just shot all the way through.“I didn’t think it was going to be that heavy. “It weighed 40, 40-some pounds with the helmet and all the batteries. I wanted my tribute to be great for Black History Month. I wanted it to be good and I guess I put that before anything.”Speaking to Lance Pugmire of The Athletic, Wilder said he will exercise his right to an immediate rematch. Wilder has 28 days to formally request the rematch, which will most likely take place in July. Deontay Wilder denies he was hurt by Tyson Fury during their rematch last weekend, with the American claiming the suit he walked out to the ring in was too heavy. Wilder was dropped two times on the way to losing a seventh round TKO at the MGM Grand. last_img read more
