Designed in conjunction with wellness travel and spa expert Sallie Fraenkel, the amenity-driven collection is only available to consumers through Travel Leaders Group’s more than 40,000 travel agents.“Since wellness travel is projected to grow by more than 9% annually – nearly 50% faster than overall global tourism – we created our Select Wellness Collection to meet the growing demand for this type of experience among our agents’ clientele,” explained Erick Rodriguez, Senior Vice President of the Travel Leaders Group Hotel Division.Wellness tourism now represents approximately 6% of all domestic and international travel, and it accounts for 14% of all tourism expenditures globally and is expected to grow to reach $678.5 billion next year, according to the Global Wellness Institute. The institute has also indicated that the global wellness market is now a $3.4 trillion per year industry, or approximately three times larger than the worldwide pharmaceutical industry.To help curate its Select Wellness Collection, Travel Leaders Group’s Hotel Division enlisted the expertise of Sallie Fraenkel, formerly the Chief Operating Officer of SpaFinder and Executive Vice President of the Global Wellness Summit (GWS).According to Rodriguez, three primary objectives for Travel Leaders Group have been achieved through the creation of the Select Wellness Collection. The first was to address the growing demand for a wellness product among agents and their clientele. The second was to extend the same high level of standards agents’ clients are already enjoying through its Select Hotels & Resorts program to curated wellness experiences. The third was to provide qualifying properties with entrée to its agents.The Select Wellness Collection is among the proprietary programmes offered by the Travel Leaders Group Hotel Division exclusively to travel agents within Nexion, Protravel International, Results!
