(Photo by Otto Greule Jr/Getty Images)Oregon’s football staff underwent a major change yesterday when news broke that defensive coordinator Jim Leavitt was leaving the program. Leavitt and the Ducks “mutually parted ways” and agreed on a contract settlement, according to CBS Sports.Once news of Leavitt’s departure went public, many Oregon fans couldn’t help but wonder about the status of five-star signee Kayvon Thibodeaux. Thibodeaux was considered a major coup for Ducks head coach Mario Cristobal when he inked the standout defensive end in December.Thibodeaux, the No. 2 overall prospect in the 2019 class, enrolled early in Eugene in January. However, there is precedent of a player requesting a transfer almost immediately after enrolling because a coach left. It happened with USC and five-star Bru McCoy a few weeks ago. However, it doesn’t look like Ducks fans have anything to worry about with Thibodeaux. He has no intentions of transferring, according to his tweet from last night.“The transfer portal hasn’t even crossed my universe. Stop askin’” Thibodeaux wrote. The transfer portal hasn’t even crossed my universe . Stop askin’— kayvon thibodeaux (@kayvonT8) February 14, 2019Oregon is reportedly set to promote co-defensive coordinator Keith Hayward to take over for Leavitt. Hayward is listed as one of Thibodeaux’s main recruiters on 247Sports, so perhaps this played a role in him wanting to stay in the fold.Thibodeaux is the top prize in Oregon’s 2019 recruiting class, which ranked seventh nationally, per 247Sports’ Composite Team Rankings.last_img
